From the Coach
The NOVA u23 Summer 15s season will commence as follows:
We will have our first 15s training Wednesday June 7th. I have a few options for a site (Oakton is unavailable this summer) and I will let you know.
We will have another training on Weds June 14th.
As we did last year, we will enter a side in the open division of the NOVA Battlefield 7s tournament. Our emphasis is still 15s of course, but this went well last year and we run a good tournament so there you go.
We will begin playing games immediately after the Battlefield 7s, starting with a match against Maryland Exiles u23s on June 21st. The Exiles want to have more games than practices and that sounds fine to me.
We will be entering a side in the social or open division of the Atlantic Cup Tournament, August 20th.
Spread the word to your college teammates and any other ruggers.
Speaking of college, NOVA will be running the Blue-Gray Classic fall 15s tournament on Sept 9th. If you think your school might be interested, let me know. We have six out of 12 spots taken as of now.
San Francisco trip failure:
Guys, this is the first time in my 18 years of rugby I tried to do something and was not able to pull it off. My apologies, but I will use the lessons learned to make this trip happen next summer. The first major problem was that we couldn't find a flight that worked out for the times and dates that we wanted. Crazy expensive was all that we could get. We kept working option after option, and that prevented me from sending out an official plan. Because of this and general lack of response from college guys that don't live on email, we only had 8 confirmations with about the same number of possibles. So, we pulled the plug on it a few weeks ago. I intend to keep better track of our roster over the winter and make this happen next summer. The Golden Gate u23 RFC was ready for us this year and said we are welcome next year.
Okay, thanks and I look forward to seeing everyone again.
